Simon Ogus, CEO

Dr. Simon Ogus, the founder and CEO of DSGAsia Limited, an independent consultancy, based in Hong Kong, which offers analysis of the eonomies and politics of Asia. DSGAsia works with a variety of multinational and regional entities in both the financial and non-financial spheres.

Until May 1999, Simon was Managing Director and Chief Economist for Asia at Warburg Dillon Read, Hong Kong. He also held the position of Adjunct Professor of Economics and Finance at the City University of Hong Kong. Simon currently serves on the board of a number of companies and official bodies, including the Council of Advisers for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research.

Simon joined Swiss Bank Corporation, as it was then known, in 1994 and was responsible for developing and spearheading the bank's macroeconomic research product for the region including Japan and Australasia. He is generally recognised as one of the few analysts who accurately predicted the Asian economic and financial crisis, and has been consistently voted as one of the top ranked macro analysts in the region across a range of industry surveys.

Simon trained as an actuary with William M Mercer Fraser. He subsequently moved into funds management with the United Bank of Kuwait in London before joining GT Management in Hong Kong in 1990.

Simon gained his PhD in economics from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies. He also holds an MSc in Management and Finance from the University of London's Imperial College, and a BA in economics and econometrics from the University of Manchester.

Marjorie Mung, Managing Director

Aside from her position as the current Mrs Ogus, Marjorie's major role in life is to make sure the bills are paid (and collected) on time. Marjorie has worked in a variety of industries including a stint at GT with her then husband-to-be. She is a graduate of New York University.

Sylvia Yau, Economist

Another graduate of the Warburg Dillon Read economics unit, Sylvia has had many years experience disentangling the works of fiction that often pass for official data in the Asian region. She is the reason why you can always trust the information that comes from DSGAsia. Sylvia holds an honours degree in
Economics from Hong Kong's Baptist University.

Hugh Ogus, Non-Executive Chairman

Hugh Ogus is London based, with considerable industry experience. A graduate of Queen Mary College, London, he began his career with Philips Electrical and subsequently ran his own company during which period he also served on a variety of industry and British Standard committees. He is Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Lightmongers, and also held office as President of the Lighting Industry Federation and as Vice President of the Chartered Institution so Building services Engineers.

Current activities include Chairmanship of the Lighting Education Trust, a charity which he founded in 1995 to co-ordinate the educational requirements of the lighting industry and profession, with close links to the Lightmongers, Professional Institutions, the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London, and South Bank University. He is also Chairman of Mary Hare Schools for deaf children.
